Kitchen on Gabriola Island
harp making
This is an experimental 58 string harp. Its soft fir looking appearance is to fool you of its rigidity and strength. This concept has to handle 1391 lbs of string tension. Its resonating box consists in different thicknesses and layers of eastern maple core, red cedar and fir resulting in a sturdy yet thin plywood. The post and neck are a one piece looking, but actually consist in several such as birch plywood, red oak and fir.
I shall order the hardware from California soon and hopefully there will be no explosion!
